Thornton Middle School provides an array of extracurricular activities, and all students are encouraged to participate.  Students who take part in clubs, sports, or other school activities develop a connection between themselves and the school.  This connection forms a sense of pride that can increase success academically and socially.  Activity sponsors inform students about requirements of the activity and all requests for meeting dates are approved by the administration.

Clubs include the following activities:

Drama, Yearbook, Student Council, Keyboarding, Literary Magazine, Science Club, Art Club, School Newspaper, Collectible Card Game Club, All-Stars, Math Counts, Computer Club, and Battle of the Books.
